To kick off the 2024 NHL playoffs, here’s a fun fact about the Edmonton Oilers’ goal horn:
The team at CEA designed the compressed air system that powers the horn. Way up in the Rogers Place rafters is an FS-Curtis compressor (with Hankison refrigerant dryer and Parker Hannifin filters) that quickly pressurizes an 80-gallon tank to 150 PSI.
When Zach Hyman scored his second of three goals on April 22nd (pictured), a button was pushed, triggering the tank to release compressed air into a series of large (and crazy loud) horns, making that iconic goal sound! 🥅
