Pneumatic Division
Every year at this time, as temperatures begin to drop, we get many calls asking for a recommended antifreeze to use in air lines to prevent valves from freezing up and functioning erratically. This has always been a sensitive subject because most antifreeze solutions contain alcohol or some other synthetic additive that attacks the O-ring material in our valves. These antifreezes can also attack polycarbonate bowls on lubricators.
We have found a lubricant, not an additive, that has excellent antifreeze characteristics. Kilfrost® absorbs the water in the air line, depressing the freezing point of the solution formed, thus eliminating freezing. Better yet, Kilfrost® is safe with polycarbonate, and following submersion tests performed by Keystone, does not affect the polyurethane or buna seals found in our AL series and our many other series valves.
Now you can better service your customer with demanding outdoor applications such as lumber and saw mills and mobile applications.
Sincerely,
William R. Ellinger
